Friday, February 11, at PHHS at 3:30pm (probably until 5?)
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A STUDENT AT PHHS TO TRY OUT, although it is preferred that you’re a high school student within the area so that commuting here will be easier for you. Oh, and it is important that you do read all of this =)The time has come again for Piedmont Hills High School’s Korean Club to select new members for our club. This time, the audition will be held for members to join the club’s performance company, SXC (Seoul Xtreme Choreography), which was created and directed by Korean Club secretary Joseph Le and is co-directed by Alexis Agsaoa. We perform various K-pop dance covers, as well as original works and train our performers to become very well-rounded in different styles of dancing. Since it is a performance team for the club, you technically do not have to be a student at PHHS to be in the team unless we perform for school (which rarely even happens).   We are looking to add around 3 to 5 new members into the company, and the new members will have the chance to perform for numerous events with the club. It wasn’t until last year that members of the club got to perform in other events such as benefit shows and charity dinners and banquets, and since then, we’ve built up a great reputation within the community. Performing in SXC will be a great opportunity for those who want to improve their dance skills and stage presence, as well as try their hands at performing more. Please note that dancers are not required to perform at all the shows, and are allowed to pick and choose which routines they want to be a part of according to their likings and schedules. Dancers do not need to be professionally trained, however, some dance experience is preferred (although not required). What we look for is diversity in our dancers, and if you have any special stunts that you can do, that will be added points. Our club currently contains members who have danced in various different genres such as tap, ballet, lyrical, hip-hop, breakdancing, contemporary, jazz, and Tahitian, so anything you can bring to the table will possibly be used in our routines. You should bring some comfortable clothes to dance in (shorts or sweats are OK, jeans are not recommended), water, and of course a ready-to-learn attitude. The audition will consist of a short group stretch, possibly a short freestyling or across-the-floor combo (this is not for sure), and a routine that the dancers will have to learn and perform in groups for the judges. Here are some of our previous works:@IgNite a Hope Benefit Concert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9D0fEsTS3I
